The Department of Maternal and Child Health has been committed to improving women and child health since its establishment. The department has long been involved in teaching, research and social service related to women and child health. Major research interests include the epidemiological characteristics, influencing factors and intervention measures of health problems among children and women at different times, and maternal and child health information. The department became the candidate of Key National Discipline of China in 2007. And in 2008 it was sanctioned as the Key Discipline in Beijing.

Graduate Students
The department enrolls 2-3 doctoral students and 6-8 master students each year. Until now, more than 100 Ph.D. graduates and masters have graduated from the department.
